Never hold any idea so dear that it can’t be

Discarded should a better one come along.

Just a few days ago (Aug.28/06), I published my views on how the door in the Queen’s Chamber “air” shaft might be bypassed by those willing and able to do so. Since then many correspondents have asked what I think will be found if/when the door is finally bypassed. After some admittedly brief consideration, I’ve narrowed it down to five basic possibilities. These are as follows:

1.      Continuation – The shaft will proceed in its current or a new direction.

2.      Nothing - The shaft will end almost immediately behind the door.

3.      Chamber – The shaft will open into another empty chamber.

4.      Artifact/s – The shaft will lead us to one or more artifacts.

5.      We’ll never know – We won’t be told the truth.

Before we look at these possibilities, I’d like to assure the reader that, regardless of what is or is not found beyond, the door itself remains a highly significant and important discovery. Somebody went to a great deal of trouble to build the pyramid. In the case of these shafts and doors, it would appear that they also went to a great deal of trouble to ensure that, eventually, somebody would understand why.

The pyramid is full of what, at first glance, appear to be anomalies. When studied mathematically, however, these anomalies become vehicles for drawing attention to a specific location or feature, and/or for linking several of each. We can be quite sure that the door, whatever it conceals, is another example of that approach to whatever it is the designers wished to say to future explorers.

One: Obviously more shaft will bring us right back to square one until such time as we have ascertained its ultimate destination. There’s not much point elaborating on this possibility, except to say that, if the shaft continues in its current direction, we should consider the location of the door as important or significant. If there is a change in direction, the point of that change and/or the new direction should also be considered as such. The pyramid is full of curiously ambiguous features, which do little more than attract attention to a given location. The door/shaft may lead somewhere, but it is almost certainly a vehicle for marking the spot!

Two: If nothing lies beyond the door, we should not conclude that we have been wasting our time, have been lead on a wild goose chase, or that we are being lied to by the Egyptian authorities (although that is never far from mind – see five). We must first consider the possibility that the existence, size, location and direction of the shaft, along with the location of the door, provide important information intended for consideration along with the remainder of the pyramid. In other words, if the shaft ends just behind the door, there is still a reason for it being there. We must ascertain and understand that reason.

Three: Another empty chamber should be treated exactly as a dead end and considered as just as important as any other in the pyramid. The new chamber must be measured accurately and its size, format and location carefully studied before we can reach any conclusions.

Four: An artifact would be something, a first in many respects! But what exactly could/would it be? Regardless of what it is, we’d have to study it in much the same way we’ve studied the rest of the pyramid. An artifact would be nice, but, unless it’s a pile of books or a huge slab that says “This is/is not a tomb,” I think it would be as anomalous as the rest of the pyramid – at least until we’ve studied it.

Five: perhaps the most disturbing aspect of pyramid exploration is the attitude of the Egyptian authorities and their various cohorts & cronies. Yes, I know the pyramid is in Egypt, that it belongs (physically) to Egypt and that it should (indeed must) be protected from any further damage. But, the actions of the authorities in the past leave us little choice but to suspect their motives and honesty when it comes to any new find/s within.

Research, by definition, is a quest for information and conclusions must wait until that information is gathered and studied. The privileged few currently allowed to conduct pyramid research already adhere to a centuries old conclusion that was (still is) no more than a money making illusion that was adopted against all evidence and common sense. These people’s lives and livelihoods revolve around that illusion and I personally doubt that they will reveal anything that might undermine their current stance (hence the title of this article!).

Personally, I find it difficult to understand why over thirteen years have passed since the shaft was first explored and the “door” revealed. I also find it extremely difficult to understand why certain people had to be censured because news of the shaft’s existence was announced via an “unauthorized” source (and must assume that it would not otherwise have been announced at all). Personally, I find it disturbing that any intelligent adult, let alone a small army of them, would not wish to explore beyond that door (and must assume a hidden agenda). Personally, I find it extremely difficult to believe that the shaft has not already been explored quietly and that what we are about to be fed is considerably less than kosher.

That said, there is an admittedly small chance that the Egyptian authorities may reveal something new if they believe they can explain it away as part of the illusion. This, I think, would be the most likely scenario - IF they find anything, and IF it fits the criteria.

What do I think is the most likely of the five possibilities?

Four – an artifact or artifacts.

Why?

The Queen’s Chamber “air” shafts have fascinated and intrigued me for some time. They were obviously designed to be concealed and were found by what can only be described as remarkably shrewd guesswork. Somebody went to a great deal of time and trouble to build the Great Pyramid. In the case of the Queen’s Chamber “air” shafts, they went to a great deal more to limit discovery to an intelligent and technologically savvy explorer.

In the Grotto is a huge stone that has apparently been worked (drilled). The size, weight of and location of the stone make it all but impossible to “lose” (please feel free to attach whatever importance you find appropriate to that statement). I think something similar lies beyond the door. I think it is an artifact of sorts and that we will be able to examine it but not remove it.

The fact that another attempt at bypassing the door is rumored is, I think, a clear enough indication that the authorities have already found something. Are we to be force-fed a sanitized version or the truth?

Only time will tell – but I believe it will tell…
